올 3월 오바마대통령의 역사적인 두번째 임기중 첫번재 방문국가인
이스라엘에서 미국에서 공수된 전용차 때문에 깜짝 쇼가 연출 되었다
GM에 의해 특별 주문 제작된 캐딜락 리무진의 이 방탄차는
디젤 엔진의 차량인데도 운전기사의 실수로 개솔린을 주입하는
실수를 저질러 그 육중한 방탄차는 초라한 토우트럭에
업혀 가는 망신을 자초하고 따라서 아침 텔아비브 공항에서
대통령을 픽업하는 임무를 수행하지 못했다
다행히 워싱턴에서 함께 공수된 예비차를 이용하여 대통령의 임무수행에는
차질이 없었지만 초 강대국인 미국대통령의 의전에서 역사적인 옥의 티를 남긴 셈
약간의 유연성으로 여유를 동반한 미국적 관료주의가 미덕이라고 본다면
미국의 귀여운(?) 실수라고 보아 주겠지만 만약 한국대통령 의전에서
이런 일이 일어났다고 생각 해 보면 어찌되었을까??

house was definitely an incarnation of 'The Beast' given it's Washington DC license plates and 5-inch-thick doors
Happy traveler: Mr Obama smiled as he rode off in the second car that they had brought for his trip
Problem: The important trip to Israel had its first hiccup before the President even arrived as
his limo- dubbed 'The Beast'- broke down after the driver put gas in the tank instead of diesel
Make way: Obama has also come under fire for requiring so many of the streets of Jerusalem to
be closed for security even though it is the lead up to the very busy holiday weekend of Passover
Before it broke: The presidential limo was on the way to the airport when it stalled out because of the wrong fuel
